Hi, I’m Tom Murphy, founder of Murphys Plastering, based on the Isle of Wight.

I’ve worked in the construction industry for over 18 years, gaining experience across many different trades as a labourer. I spent years working alongside skilled bricklayers, groundworkers, electricians, and builders—learning how a well-run site operates and what true craftsmanship looks like.

But it was plastering that really caught my attention.

Driven by a real interest in the trade, I began teaching myself. I studied books, read countless articles, and watched hours of videos—soaking up everything I could. I practised whenever the opportunity came up, constantly improving my technique. I didn’t just want to do the job—I wanted to do it properly.

After years of hands-on learning and real site experience, I decided to take things further. In 2024, I enrolled in college to sharpen my skills and formalise my training. I achieved my Level 2 Diploma in Plastering in 2025, covering:

Internal plastering

Floor screeding

Dot and dab

Sand and cement rendering

Traditional lime rendering

With that mix of self-taught passion, practical experience, and formal training, I launched Murphys Plastering—offering clean, high-quality plastering services across the Isle of Wight.

I work with homeowners, landlords, first-time buyers, and local contractors. Every job is approached with care, pride, and attention to detail. I treat each property like it’s my own, and I never walk away from a job unless I’m proud of the finish.
